Eats

Opportunistic omnivores, eating beetles, spiders, flies, mealworms, caterpillars, snails, leeches, fruits, seeds, nectar, and even small lizards and frogs.

Lives

Southeast Asia into Nepal, in forests and scrublands. Thrushes like dense, shady thickets and shrubs, often found in secondary forests.

Behavior

Diurnal and live in flocks.

Description

White-Crested Laughing Thrushes are a medium sized bird with white crowns on the top of their heads, a thin dark mask, and russet-brown body.  Females look identical to males, except their crowns are shorter. They are highly social and vocal birds often characterized by their “laughing” vocalization.
