We Need Your Help!

Mill Mountain Zoo has always been a place of wonder, learning, and conservation. But this February, severe winter storms brought heavy ice and high winds, leaving Mill Mountain with blocked roads, significant tree damage, and a difficult road to recovery. While we are incredibly grateful that all of our animals and staff are safe, the damage to our zoo has forced us to remain closed to the public for over a week. This closure not only impacts our ability to welcome guests but also puts a strain on our resources as we work to rebuild. Caring for our animals is always our top priority. Our dedicated team has been working tirelessly to ensure their well-being while also managing storm cleanup. In particular, our of exhibit American Red Wolves—a federally protected, critically endangered species—had to be temporarily relocated to a different exhibit due to trees that had fallen and impacted the integrity of their normal enclosure. As we continue to recover, we need your help. Being closed means a loss of vital revenue, all while we face unexpected expenses for cleanup and repairs.

That’s why we’re launching a GoFundMe campaign—to help us rebuild, restore, and continue providing the best care for our animals and the best educational animal experiences for our guests. Mill Mountain Zoo is a nonprofit organization that has been a part of the Roanoke community for generations, and now, we’re asking our community to help us in our time of need. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference in getting us back on our feet and ready to welcome you again. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe and sharing our story. Together, we can bring Mill Mountain Zoo back stronger than ever. Thank you for your support.
